Dr. Kain Masutani
Dr. Kain Masutani was born and raised in Hawaii and attended Mid-Pacific Institute. He earned his undergraduate degree from Creighton University and went on to complete his veterinary degree at St. George’s University, finishing his clinical year at Oregon State University. After graduation, he worked in private practice in Nevada and Oregon before completing a small animal rotating internship and a dermatology residency in Washington. During this time, he obtained certification in CO2 laser surgery from the American Board of Laser Surgery. Dr. Masutani is excited to return home to Hawaii and provide advanced dermatology services to the community.
Dr. Nicole Roybal
Dr. Roybal grew up in Kaneohe and graduated from Kamehameha Schools. She completed her undergraduate and veterinary degrees at Colorado State University before moving to California to pursue a specialty internship and residency in ophthalmology at Veterinary Specialty Hospital of San Diego. Dr. Roybal became a board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist in 2011. After practicing in San Diego for several years, Dr. Roybal and her husband returned home to Hawaii and opened Pacific Animal Eye Care in Kaneohe in 2019.
Dr. Roybal will now provide ophthalmology services at Veterinary Specialty Group. Consultations will include a complete ophthalmic examination, routine diagnostic testing and an in-depth discussion of the diagnosis and appropriate treatment options. Patients requiring general anesthesia and surgery or more extensive ophthalmic diagnostic testing will be referred to our main location in Kaneohe. Due to limited ophthalmology coverage at VSG, some follow-up care may need to be completed at our Kaneohe location.
